It's terribly important that where there is to be a community meal or some other social occasion where a glass of wine (or two) might be served that it take place 'after' the communion service and not before. The Social Convenor in my congregation is asked to please take note.

I've seen a lot of Gospel processions. A lot of them with music. None of them ever looked like this... It would seem a certain sense of decorum and reverence is, well, lacking...

I entertain the fantasy that the clergyman in question is probably an older non-stipendiary priest in the congregation who is enduring the recently appointed vicar's new take on the Sunday liturgy. Maybe I just can't imagine anybody doing this unless they were forced to do it.

Can you just imagine the response when he actually reads the Gospel!!!

I'd be glad to see people actually excited about the gospel, but it's just so...forced. The guy rocking out on the keyboard is the only one who looks genuinely excited.

Would that all would approach the Gospel with such joy and enthusiasm. There are people in every congregation I have served who decry as disruptive the little children who run up to the altar rail and fling themselves onto the kneeler, holding up their hands long before I even get to them with the bread, with big, eager smiles on their faces. The adults don't like it because the children don't "understand" anything about the Eucharist, they say. Why are we not more of us running, and dancing to meet our Lord in our worship? That would be true reverence, to me, and true understanding.

It's amazing how extravagant some stag do's can be these days.

This just supports my theory that all of us who stand up in front of congregations weekly need to be regularly videotaped and forced to watch ourselves.

Some of you need to read the Bible. The Bible is full of exuberant praise, including dancing and raising hands to the Lord! We should be so excited about Jesus that we can hardly contain ourselves. Dancing in the Spirit is a great thing! Check out all the Youtube videos of people worshipping God in church by dancing.
